Local animal shelters, humane societies unite to host “chain-free dogs” event May 21
Several local animal shelters and humane societies are coming together Saturday to host an event raising awareness on the issue of chaining dogs. Organizers say shelters from Washington, Unicoi, Carter, Sullivan Counties, and more will be in attendance at this “Making Appalachian Highlands Chain Free” event.
Live music is happening as well as local vendors and a food pantry giveaway. Dog trainers will be on-site, as well as a Tennessee representative for the U.S. Humane Society, who will answer any legislative questions about chaining animals. This free event happens at King Commons in Johnson City on Saturday from 11 to 4.
