Domtar close to resuming operations following $350 million renovation
Domtar in Kingsport is inching closer to resuming normal operations after it underwent a $350 million renovation to begin making containerboard paper. Officials say the public may see and hear periodic steam releases on-site in the next weeks as the mill returns to normal operations.
The steam releases will happen around the clock from Sept. 26 through Oct. 9. Domtar says this is necessary to clean and prepare newly-installed steam pipes at the site. Officials say sound should be at a minimum, as temporary silencers are in place.
