SCSO Investigating Suspicious Death

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s office is investigating a suspicious death after the body of a man was found in a home on Horseshoe Drive on September 19th. A report says deputies responded to the residence in reference to a hang-up 911 call, where dispatch was unable to get an answer after calling back.

Upon arrival, officers were met with a man pointing a firearm at them, who was identified as Corey Vaughn, 37, of Kingsport. Deputies were able to disarm Vaughn and take him into custody. He is charged with three counts of aggravated assault against deputies, and is being held without bond.

When police made entrance into the home, they discovered the body of Matthew Isenberg, 37, of Kingsport. The report says his death has been marked as suspicious and an investigation is ongoing. Evidence was submitted to the TBI’s lab and results are pending.
