Feeding Southwest Virginia, Fighting To Provide Much Needed Nutritional Food Assistance Programs
One in eight adults, and one in six children in southwest Virginia suffer with food insecurities and for 41 years an agency has been meeting the needs of those individuals. Despite inflation and lingering effects of the COVID pandemic Feeding Southwest Virginia is reaching more than 144 thousand individuals across the region who need some type of assistance when it comes to having enough, nutritional food to eat. The agency recently released its annual report that shows among other statistics, Feeding Southwest Virginia has distributed more than 18 million pounds of food to residents in the region during 2022.
