Salvation Army Angel Tree program begins
The first Angel Tree of the holiday season was set up at The Mall at Johnson City Monday. The Angel Tree aims to help children and families in need by providing them with new clothes, toys and other gifts. The Salvation Army says that this year, the number of registered angels is the highest in years with 3,400 angels on the trees this year, which will assist around 2,000 families. That translates to an 8 to 10 percent increase in assistance requests. Angel Trees are located this year in Abingdon, Bristol TN and VA, Johnson City, Elizabethton, Kingsport and Rogersville.
