Localities receive grants for downtown improvements

Tennessee Governor Lee congratulated 17 localities across the state after each were awarded with a $300,000 Tennessee Downtown Improvement Grants. Bristol, Johnson City and Elizabethton are among the group. Grants were awarded to organizations that illustrated the need for improvements and the ability to execute an effective design plan for things like building facades, signage, and streetscapes. Each of the new grant recipients will be required to match 25-percent of the funding they receive.
