Jonesborough Elementary opens January 4th. New park to follow
The brand new Jonesborough Elementary School will be welcoming students to the school Thursday, with an open house for parents Wednesday night. Construction still continues outside the school on what will become recreation facilities that will be used both for the school and as a public space. Once complete, the new facilities will include soccer, baseball and softball fields, a rubber track, and a walking trail. Plans also include two tennis courts, eight pickle ball courts, four playgrounds and a thousand trees with agricultural learning center. The project is estimated to cost five million, with the State providing a matching grant. The park is expected to be completed by this summer.
