Unicoi County Jail inmate escapes, immediately captured

Police say a Unicoi County Jail inmate was arrested on Sunday after he escaped a Johnson City rehab facility. The Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office says 34 year old Ray Charles English of Erwin was arrested after escaping a Johnson City rehab facility. A short search revealed English hiding in shrubbery near the rehab facility. English was reportedly at the center of a Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office investigation July 2021 to December 2023 before being taken into custody January 4th. English is now housed in the Unicoi County Jail with a pending court hearing in February.
