Trail for woman accused of murdering her baby starts this week

A Johnson City woman is facing trial this week for the alleged 2020 murder of her 19-month-old baby, while the child’s father, Jeramiah Crater, has pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder in exchange for a life sentence. Jury selection in Sapora Walton’s trial began Tuesday. She is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse in Samiah Crater’s Feb. 21, 2020 death at Walton and Crater’s East Chestnut Street apartment. The trail is expected to last around 2 weeks.
