Erwin Dollar General robbery suspect arrested

Police say the suspect who reportedly robbed an Erwin Dollar General at gunpoint on Sunday night is now in custody. Unicoi County Sheriff Hensley said that the department initially received a call regarding a burglary and theft in Flag Pond Sunday night, and the suspect was believed to be in an SUV. Shortly after, the armed robbery occurred at the Dollar General on North Main Avenue in Erwin at around 9:30 p.m., with the suspect driving an SUV. The suspect was later identified by the Erwin Police Department as Samuel Curtis Greene of Weaverville, North Carolina. Greene was charged with aggravated robbery, theft over $1000 and tampering with evidence.
