Smyth County vigil held for deputies
The Smyth County community came together at the Smyth County Sheriff’s Office for a vigil honoring the loss of Smyth County Deputy Hunter Reedy after he was killed in a shooting on Friday, and Deputy Michael Fedorchuk was injured. Pastors from across the county organized the vigil to honor the deputies and their families. The Smyth County Sheriff’s Office will be escorting the body of Deputy Reedy from the Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke back to Smyth County around 12:30 PM on Monday, August 12. Sheriff Shuler invites any sheriff’s office that would like to participate to join along Interstate 81 from Roanoke back to Marion.
