Kingsport BOE approves A.I. policy for teachers and students
The Kingsport Board of Education has approved a policy regarding the use of artificial intelligence by students and teachers. The policy allows students and staff to use AI but sets guidelines for its use. Under the policy, only approved AI programs may be used in student instruction or in completing student work. The superintendent of schools is charged with developing procedures for staff to submit additional programs for approval. The school district’s technology staff will oversee the implementation of AI programs, including ensuring compliance with district policies and state and federal laws. The policy, along with several others, was approved during Tuesday’s regular board meeting.
