Carter County communities closer to public water access
The Laurels community in Carter County is closer to having public drinking water. The Carter County Commission agreed to match funds from the county to complete the Laurels Road waterline extension project. It would bring public water to 10 homes in the community where many families rely on well water. A timeline for the project has not yet been set but when it is completed, homes will get their water from the city of Elizabethton. The county was also given grant approval for another project to bring public water to the Garland Branch community in Watauga. That project will impact 14 homes in the area.
