TBI says Sullivan County man indicted for making a false report to police
The TBI says a Sullivan County man was indicted for perjury and false reporting after he alleged a Bristol police officer sexually assaulted him during an April arrest, 25 year old James Midkiff was arrested by Bristol police on April 4. After the arrest, Midkiff reported that the arresting officer “assaulted him and used excessive force,” according to the release. The 2nd Judicial District Attorney General Barry Staubus then requested the TBI investigate with investigators determining the claims made by Midkiff were false. Midkiff was charged with one count of perjury and one count of filing a false report. He was served the indictment at the Sullivan County Jail on Tuesday, where he is being held on unrelated charges.
