Washington County BOE rejects latest offer on former Jonesborough Middle School
The future of the old Jonesborough Middle School is still unclear after Tuesday night’s Washington County Board of Education meeting. The board voted to not approve a $1.8 million offer from the Town of Jonesborough to purchase the building. The Town of Jonesborough had offered $1.3 million earlier this year, but the board made a counteroffer of $2.2 million earlier this month. Jonesborough returned with a $1.8 million offer after the building was appraised and the board struck down at Tuesday’s meeting. Washington County Schools Superintendent Dr. Jerry Boyd said that the board believes that the town’s offer is still too low. Boyd said he expects the conversations with the town will continue.
