Greeneville High forfeits victory over Tennessee High for use of ineligible player
Greeneville High athletic officials have admitted to using an ineligible football player in their game last month against Tennessee High.
A statement from the school said they have informed the TSSAA of the violation and will forfeit their victory.
School officials said the governing agency commended their honesty and their high standards caused the violation to be reported quickly.
According to the report, Greeneville said the problem arose from the select paperwork of a student-athlete not being omitted to the TSSAA.
On August 23, the Greene Devils beat the THS Vikings 54-7. The statement from the school said the player in question did not suit-up for the Devils’ 35-0 win over Dobyns-Bennett.
