Little Germany community in Washington County TN awaits new access road

In a new update, Washington County Mayor Joe Grandy said the Little Germany community near Bumpas Cove along the Nolichucky River, that has been cut off since the floods last week, is now getting closer to having a new access road. Grandy said a group of officials met with the community and told them to expect a new road to access the area through the national forest. The U.S. Forest Service has authorized cutting a new road through the forest since it will likely take a long time to repair Bumpas Cove Road. Gandy said it will likely take a few days to complete the road, but that will allow vehicles access to the community that has been cut off since the flooding from Hurricane Helene last week.
