TDOT: Property access forms are legitimate and not a scam
The Tennessee Department of Transportation confirmed on Thursday that it is contacting property owners along state routes affected by Hurricane Helene to request access to damaged properties. East Tennesseans who may have received a form from TDOT have expressed concern about its legitimacy. TDOT clarified Thursday that this is not a scam, and the department requires permission from residents before entering and rebuilding damaged property. TDOT said that affected homeowners required to provide a right-of-entry will receive a form directly from the right-of-way office.
