Scott County added to Disaster Unemployment Assistance declaration
Scott County, Virginia has been added to a Disaster Unemployment Assistance declaration after Hurricane Helene, bringing the number of program-eligible Virginia communities to 17. The Virginia Employment Commission says the program offers temporary financial assistance to those whose employment or self-employment was impacted by hurricane Helene. The VEC is accepting applications for the program until December 2. If accepted, the DUA will cover losses from September 25 and benefits may be paid through April 5. Individuals can apply online or call VEC’s Customer Contact Center.
