JC inauguration set for Monday, despite lawsuit
Johnson City is set to inaugurate commissioners and school board members elected in November on Monday, despite a lawsuit filed last week calling for the election to be done over. The lawsuit was filed by three school board candidates and one city commission candidate and centers around reports that revealed Carter County election officials gave 44 people the wrong ballot, potentially influencing the tight city commission race. All of the candidates who are suing lost by larger margins. A judge has not yet heard the case with inauguration ceremony scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday.
