Johnson City Commission selects mayor and vice-mayor
The Johnson City Commission selected a new mayor and vice-mayor Thursday night. Commissioner John Hunter was appointed mayor while newly-elected commissioner Greg Cox was tapped for vice-mayor. Commissioner Todd Fowler has served as mayor for the past two years. Johnson City doesn’t have an at-large, publicly elected mayor like some cities, such as Kingsport. Instead, the city charter requires the commission to select one of its own to serve as mayor every two years.
