Tennessee sports stars join country legends and former governor to lure a WNBA franchise
An impressive ownership team has been assembled to try and bring a WNBA franchise to Nashville.
Former Governor Bill Haslam and wife Crissy announced their intentions to apply with the league for their next round of expansion city selection in 2028. Country super couple Tim McGraw & Faith Hill and Vols legends Peyton Manning and Candace Parker the other investors.
The WNBA experienced a huge jump in TV viewership, ticket and merchandise sales, and attendance last year thanks in part to Indiana rookie Caitlin Clark.
The team would be called the Tennessee Summit in honor of UT champion Pat Summit and games would be played at Bridgestone Arena.
