Joint Effort by CCSO and Elizabethton Police Arrests More than 50 Suspects in Operation Sundown

A year long methamphetamine investigation has resulted in the arrest of 52 individuals in Carter County.

A press conference was held Tuesday to unveil the results of Operation Sundown, a joint effort by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office and Elizabethton Police Department. 44 suspects were indicted in a grand jury presentment for conspiracy to sell or deliver methamphetamine, along with additional charges. Carter County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Elizabethton Police, DEA, and Homeland Security all worked together in a round up operation August 20-21 to arrest the majority of the indicted suspects. They also seized more than $31,000 worth of methamphetamine, as well as other drug assets including money and vehicles.

With the success of this roundup, Dexter Lunceford, Carter County Sheriff, has a message for individuals distributing in the area. “We know who you are, we know what there are doing, and we are going to come and get you.” Authorities are still searching for six suspects in connection with the case. The names of these suspects are as follows, Hayley Nicole Boyd, Kindra Lashae Campbell, Thomas Ray Cox Jr., Casilda Elizabeth Hernandez, John Andrew Register, and CW McCain Smith.
