KPD Investigating Sunday Morning Serious Head-On Collision on I-26

The Kingsport Police Department has launched an investigation into a serious accident that occurred Sunday morning.

The department says the crash happened on Interstate 26 westbound near mile marker 6 (Rock Springs Road exit), when a 2005 black Mercedes driving the wrong way hit a 2008 Blue Honda Accord head on. Both drivers were taken to the hospital, as Margaret Buck, the driver of the Honda, is being treated for serious injuries. Zachary Hunt was treated for non-incapacitating injuries. The area of the crash on the interstate was closed for three hours due to the severity of the accident.

Charges are pending according to police.
