Ticks Can Still Be A Problem During Remaining Days Of Summer
Even though summer is winding down, Virginia Health Officials are warning residents in Southwest Virginia to remain on the lookout for ticks in the remaining days of warm weather. The number of reported cases have been increasing in southwest Virginia since the 1990’s. Common tickborne illnesses in the region include Lyme disease, as well Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. And the Centers For Disease Control expects the tick problem across the region to continue during the remaining days of warm weather and is urging everyone to know the risks of tick bites as well as taking necessary steps to protect you and your pets.
