Report: Tennessee Achieves Highest Graduation Rate on Record
Graduation rates in the Volunteer State continue to rise.
The latest report from the Tennessee Department of Education shows the state achieved a record high graduation rate of 89.7% during the 2018-19 school year, which better the previous year by nearly half a percentage point. Statewide, 67 districts improved graduation rates from year to year, while 49 districts achieved a 95 percent or above rate, including local counties like Sullivan County, Johnson County, Hawkins County, and Greeneville City Schools.
The breakdown of graduation rates among school districts in Northeast Tennessee for the 2018-19 school year are as follows:
Carter County Schools: 88.8%
Elizabethton City Schools: 88.9%
Greene County Schools: 93.1%
Greeneville City Schools: 97.4%
Hawkins County Schools: 95.7%
Johnson County Schools: 96.3%
Sullivan County Schools: 95.2%
Bristol, TN City Schools: 94.3%
Kingsport City Schools: 94.1%
Unicoi County Schools: 91.7%
Washington County Schools: 94.5%
Johnson City Schools: 92.1%
