Energy Research And Development Authority Launches In Southwest Virginia
An agency designed to think outside the box on energy projects in southwest Virginia is beginning work that hopefully will lead to energy projects and new jobs in the region. The Southwest Virginia Energy Research and Development Authority was established in the 2019 legislative session. Senator Ben Chafin co sponsored the legislation.Officials say the authorities focus on energy workforce development will help drive economic growth opportunities in southwest Virginia. The authority is made up of eleven members from across the Commonwealth.
