KPD Hoping to Seek More Information Following Reported Shooting Sunday Evening

Investigators in Kingsport are hoping to learn more following a reported shooting near East Center Street Sunday evening.

A police report from the Kingsport Police Department says a witness told authorities he heard gun shots, then observed a male running away from the sound of the gunfire, while clutching his stomach, to then be picked up by a blue sports car near the area the witness was standing at Indian Highlands Park. Another witness told police she saw a white male exit a dark lifted pickup truck and fire four shots, including two at a male standing near a fence at Indian Highlands Park before the victim ran away, and two more shots at the blue sports car.

The report said another witness told police the suspect’s truck was a newer Chevrolet Silverado with a lift kit, dark tinted windows, and red vinyl decals on the front windshield. The witness also described the male that fired the shots to be very muscular. The other vehicle in question was described as a royal blue 1997-99 BMW convertible.

Bullet casings have been collected as evidence from the scene and are being submitted to the TBI for further investigation. Anyone with further information on the incident should contact Kingsport Police.
