DEVELOPING: Manhunt Underway in Polk County, FL for Greeneville Murder Suspect Now Linked to Double Homicide
A man accused of murder in Greeneville is now wanted for an alleged double homicide in Florida.
Grady Judd, Polk County, Florida Sheriff, held a press conference just before midnight, and said this, “We have a manhunt underway right now, for this guy, his name is Stanley Eric Mossburg.” Mossburg, was wanted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation for allegedly murdering Christopher Short near a wooded area close to businesses at Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville. Police located Short’s body near Celebrity Coin Laundry on October 2nd, and developed Mossburg as the prime suspect Monday afternoon. As of late Monday, Mossburg has now been linked to a double homicide in Winter Haven, Florida. Sheriff Judd says Mossburg reportedly fled to SC to obtain a bus ticket from his sister to Orlando, and once he arrived, he allegedly broke into a home and committed the double murder of a man and woman. During the press conference, Judd says Mossburg held a victim hostage, but let him live, citing “God told me not to kill you.” Mossburg then left the house in the victim’s vehicle, and reportedly came back close to the scene of the crime.
As of 4 a.m this morning, police believe Mossburg is inside the perimeter their SWAT teams have set up. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more on this developing story.
