Kingsport BMA Passes First Reading of Proposed Ordinance to Amend Code to Objects On or In Public Right of Way
An ordinance proposed by the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Alderman to change city code that would prohibit objects on or in public right of way has passed on first reading.
The Board met Tuesday night and voted 4-2 to send the proposed amended code to a second reading, which if approved again, would be formally adopted. This could impact the months-long protests against Ballad Health by protesters who have staged an area at Holston Valley Medical Center. Several individuals participated in last night’s public comment section, including Dani Cook, one of the vocal leaders leading the protest against Ballad.
The Board will have second reading on the proposed ordinance change at its next meeting November 19th.
