UPDATE: Washington County, Tennessee deputy suspended without pay following criminal charges

Following a TBI investigation and grand jury indictment for official misconduct and assault, a Washington County, Tennessee deputy is now suspended without pay.

Sheriff Ed Graybeal released a statement Thursday outlining the suspension for Lt. Eddie Graybeal III who was caught on the body cam of another deputy slapping a handcuffed detainee. Eddie Graybeal turned himself in to police Wednesday following the indictments presented by a special prosecutor to the jury in Jonesborough.

The sheriff said he stands by his son and supports him. Graybeal also said he will have no further comment on the case.
