UPDATE: Suspect killed in office-involved shooting in Glade Spring identified

What started out as a traffic stop in previous larceny investigation in Washington County, Virginia, ended in gunfire and left one person dead. Deputies with the sheriff’s department recognized a car driven by 37-year old Phillip Cameron Gibson, II, 37, of Castlewood. Gibson was identified as a suspect of a break-in of a residential home where a handgun and prescriptions had been taken. Authorities attempted to stop Gibson at exit 19 on Interstate 81 in Glade Spring. Gibson pulled away, leading police on a 30-minute chase that ended when he exited the car and waved the .357 at police. Officers responded with deadly force.
