Workplace Deaths Up In Tri Cities

Work related deaths are on the rise in the state of Tennessee, including here in the Tri Cities region. The most recent death came this week when Ben Shew died after his clothes got caught in a machine’s conveyor belt at Specialty Tires in Unicoi County. Shew makes the fifth workplace death so far this year in our region. Last year in the Tri Cities. Two workplace deaths were reported. So far this year, 25 people have died in Tennessee during workplace related accidents.
