DMME Assisting Local Governments In Pursuit Of Solar Energy
Local governments in southwest Virginia and the rest of the state are receiving assistance that’s expected to hasten and increase solar development across the Commonwealth. The Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy is offering local governments assistance to recognize and remove barriers to solar government. Solsmart is a national program led by The Solar Foundation and the International City/County Management Association. The Virginia Clean Economy Act requires electricity be generated in the Commonwealth using carbon free sources by 2050 increasing the demand for renewable energy.
