Wythe County, VA deputy in serious condition following officer-involved shooting Tuesday night

One deputy and a suspect are in serious condition following an officer-involved shooting Tuesday night in Wythe County, VA.

The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police were called to a domestic situation where a gunshot had been fired around 10:00 p.m last night at a home on Whippoorwill Road. Police say as they were walking to the residence, an unidentified suspect fired shots and hit two deputies, before police returned fire and hit the suspect. One deputy is currently is serious condition while another deputy was released from the hospital. The suspect is also in serious condition.

The shooting is currently under investigation by state police.
