Sullivan Schools Will Reopen As Long As COVID Transmission Remains Low
Based on expert advice from the public health community, schools in Sullivan County, including Kingsport and Bristol city schools will only open if there is zero to moderate spread of COVID-19 based on cases per one hundred thousand people. The school systems agreed Wednesday to follow a three level framework for reopening schools. Under the first level, if data shows the average case rate is five or less per one hundred thousand residents over the last 14 days schools will reopen. Under a second level of minimal to moderate spread schools would decide to open on a situational dependent level and with substantial spread schools would more than likely operate and transition to remote learning.
