VDH: Southwest VA reaches 1,000 COVID-19 total case mark on Sunday
Total cases of COVID-19 in Southwest VA have reached the 1,000 mark as of Sunday.
Following yesterday’s release of new virus data from the VA Dept of Health, the region that consists of three health districts and 16 localities gained 29 new virus cases, putting the grand total of cases at 1,008.
Among new cases includes Washington County with 7, Wise County with 3, Russell and Tazewell counties with 2, and Bristol with 1.

Buchanan County- 39 cases/ 1 hospitalized
Dickenson County- 6 cases
Russell County- 23 cases/ 4 hospitalized
Tazewell County- 28 cases
Lenowisco Health District:
Lee County- 19 cases/ 1 hospitalized
Norton- 4 cases/ 2 hospitalized
Scott County- 14 cases/ 2 hospitalized/ 2 deaths
Wise County- 41 cases/ 12 hospitalized/ 2 deaths
Mount Rogers Health District:
Bland County- 3 cases
Bristol- 13 cases/ 1 hospitalized
Carroll County- 249 cases/ 21 hospitalized/ 9 deaths
Galax- 288 cases/ 30 hospitalized/ 16 deaths
Grayson County- 92 cases/ 6 hospitalized/ 4 deaths
