Carter County mask mandate goes into effect Friday

Carter County is set to become the fourth county in Northeast Tennessee with a mask mandate when an executive order takes effect at midnight.
Earlier this week, Mayor Rusty Barnett announced he would join Sullivan, Washington, and Greene counties in requiring the wearing of face coverings in public settings. The order, obtained by Supertalk on Thursday, requires the wearing of a mask in public settings for all Carter County residents, especially in places where social distancing is difficult or impossible to maintain.
Those exempt from the order include children under the age of 12, those with underlying health conditions, in places of worship, and while voting at a voting site.
The order is scheduled to be in effect through August 3rd. The full executive order can be read below:
