School board selects August 17 as first day of school in Dickenson County
The Dickenson County School Board has voted to begin classes on August 17 with a hybrid schedule for students that includes two days of in-classroom instruction and remote learning.
Students will be required to take classes four days a week with Wednesdays reserved for remediation and deep cleaning at facilities, according to a report from Superintendent Haydee Robinson.
A number of mitigation strategies are being deployed including daily temperature screenings, requiring masks to be worn in hallways, and placing protective barriers around school offices.
