Dharma approved for zoning exception to assist in move from Bristol Mall property to Abingdon
The company that received state approval to produce medical cannabis-based products earlier this year has found a new location for its offices.
The Washington County, Virginia Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to award a special zoning exception permit to Dharma Pharmaceuticals to relocate their operations to acreage located on Old Trail Road in Abingdon where they also plan to open one of six new retail stores.
Dharma Chief Operating Officer Jack Page told the council that they were notified last month by their landlord at the former Bristol Mall location that their lease would be terminated.
The county’s board of zoning was considering denying Dharma’s request after some surrounding property owners said the company’s new location brought concerns of crime and increased traffic in their neighborhood.
