Greene County Schools to start 2020-21 academic year with virtual learning on Aug. 17
The Greene County School Board has approved starting the 2020-21 academic year on Aug. 17 with virtual learning.
Board members voted 6-1 on Saturday in favor of approving the school district’s reopening framework that included two amendments, one of which grants schools to start back virtually, with some vulnerable populations in the school system to return to in-person learning with small groups.
The framework plan adopted shows Greene County is currently in the red zone, which means the county is averaging 11 or more new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people over a period of three consecutive days.
The other amendment approved allows the school system to work with the local health department on Thursdays to examine the epi-curve data and clusters to make a determination on operation status for the school system for the following week.
