Hawkins Co., Schools to delay start of year to Aug. 17, will operate in “red phase”
Hawkins County School officials have announced that they will further delay the start of the academic year until Aug. 17.
A Facebook post from the school district Monday announced the start date change, which was most recently announced that classes would begin Aug. 10.
Officials also stated in the post that they intend to start in the red phase, at least through Sept. 11.
Below is the red phase criteria according to the school reopening plan approved by the district:
“Schools will limit access to all students on campus, operating on rotating schedules, which will allow a maximum of 25% of HCS students to attend in-class instruction daily. Hawkins County Schools will employ the remote learning plan, consisting of all teachers instructing students remotely and in-person in a limited fashion.”
