UPDATE: COVID virus impacts three high school programs in NE Tennessee
Happy Valley becomes the third Northeast Tennessee high football program this week to be impacted by the coronavirus.
A statement from Coach Jason Jarrett said his program was taking a proactive approach in shutting down practices for the remainder of this week although he said there are no positive virus cases in his camp at this time.
A member of Sullivan North High School’s community tested positive for the virus and that team is now in quarantine for 14 days as of Wednesday with their season opener scheduled for Aug. 21.
Greeneville High School and Middle School stopped all fall sports practices on Monday after a cluster of cases were identified with several athletes.
It’s been less than a week since Governor Bill Lee signed an executive order that allowed contact sports in Tennessee using federal and state COVID safety guidelines.
