VDH: Health advisories for Lewis Creek and Clinch River lifted
Health advisories issued by the Virginia Department of Health for portions of the Clinch River and Lewis Creek have been lifted.
The department of health issued a warning on Aug. 27 discouraging recreational use and consumption of fish from the two bodies of water because of an ongoing sewage overflow of the wastewater treatment plant that serves the Town of Honaker.
Those previous advisories were for the areas of Lewis Creek just south of state route 80 in Honaker to Puckett’s Hole in the Clinch River at State Route 652 in Russell County.
Virginia’s Environmental Quality department reports the discharge has now ceased.
