US DOL Unemployment Claims Report 9/24: 23,805 first time claims filed last week in TN and VA

Nearly 24,000 first time jobless claims were filed last week in TN and VA.

The newest report from the US Dept of Labor says for the week ending Sept. 19, 11,313 first time unemployment claims were filed in TN, while 12,492 first time claims were filed in VA. Tennessee reported just three claims less than the last reporting week, while Virginia saw a 2,392 jobless claim uptick from the prior reporting week. Locally, Northeast TN had 677 first time claims filed last week, while 7,921 claims were continued from the last reporting week. Below is the state and local breakdown:
