Man Arrested On Shoplifting Charges, Now Faces Serious Additional Charges Of Resisting Arrest And Introducing Contraband In Penal Facility
A Jonesborough man originally arrested for attempting to steal two phone cases is now facing more serious additional charges. 36 year old Benjamin Hamilton was arrested by Johnson City Police for attempting to steal two phone cases valued at fifty dollars from a Johnson City Phone shop. Officers attempted to place Hamilton under arrest who actively resisted officers. Following a brief struggle, Hamilton was taken into custody. But Hamilton’s problems didn’t stop there. While booking Hamilton in Correctional Officers discovered a white crystal substance in his shoe. In addition to the minor shoplifting charge, Hamilton was scheduled to be arraigned on additional charges of resisting arrest and introduction of contraband into the Washington County Detention Center where he was being held on bond.
