NEW: Johnson County Schools closing Oct. 5-9 due to COVID-19 and staffing issues
Johnson County Schools will be closed all next week because of COVID-19 and the system’s challenge to cover staff members that are currently out.
The district made that announcement on Friday, and says they will undergo deep cleaning of each school building. The system said in a news release that the majority of their initial COVID-19 cases have been traced from outside of the school system, and asks that any staff member that tests positive for coronavirus while schools are closed next week to contact Wendy Henley at 423-727-2181, so they can contact trace.
The school system was operating with in-person learning, and according to the district’s dashboard, as of Friday morning there were 19 active COVID-19 cases and 258 total students and staff in quarantine.
