Commonwealth Identifies New Ways To Return Millions Of Dollars Of Unclaimed Property During Pandemic
In a year of unprecedented challenges, the Commonwealth of Virginia has identified new ways to return more than 67 million dollars in unclaimed property to Virginians. The Department of the Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Program returned 67 point eight million dollars to one hundred and eleven thousand asset accounts. To assist individuals with filing claims, the Department implemented new virtual outreach programs amid the COVID-19 pandemic. More than 912 million dollars has been paid out to Virginians since the program started in 1961.
