TBI: Claiborne County deputy indicted after allegedly assaulting man while on duty
A Claiborne County deputy is facing charges of assault on allegations he assaulted a man in Hancock County while on duty.
A news release from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a Hancock County grand jury recently indicted Robert Reed on a simple assault charge. It follows an investigation by state agents into an incident in Sneedville on Feb. 13, where authorities say the deputy confronted a person on a personal matter which resulted in Reed reportedly assaulting the man.
He turned himself into police Monday and was booked into the Hancock County jail on a $5,000 bond.
