Ballad to begin deferring certain elective procedures at Holston Valley Medical Center next Monday
Ballad Health will begin to defer around 25% of certain elective procedures starting next Monday at Holston Valley Medical Center as the system continues to feel the brunt of increasing hospitalizations.
That announcement was made Wednesday by Ballad CEO Alan Levine as the system has also experienced an 80% growth of cases in the last two weeks. Additional deferral plans are being worked on for Bristol Regional Medical Center and Johnson City Medical Center, as those percentages of elective procedure deferrals could increase with increased hospitalizations.
On Wednesday, Ballad reported 135 patients hospitalized, which is the highest reported daily number since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
